CONCEPT:

THE SKULL,

par excellence symbol of vanity, seat of thought, supreme command, the most important of the 4 energy centers through which the macrocosmic image of man is represented,

expression of the spirit and intelligence, matrix of knowledge, counterpart of the celestial vault, one of the most complex and mysterious symbols of victory in the entire history of symbolism.

Symbols

– par excellence the skull is a symbol of vanity. We find it in Flemish paintings from the sixteenth century onwards alongside other elements with the same symbolism: pearls, flowers, portraits.

– seat of thought, of the supreme command, the most important of the 4 centers through which the macrocosmic image of man is represented. (center1=skull, center2=the base of the sternum, center3=navel, center4=sex), according to I Bambara. ( skull-vase work)

– on the altars of the Kore initiatory society, 4 vases full of celestial water (collection of the first and last rain of the year), represent the 4 points. One of these vases has the shape of a skull and contains 4 thunder stones that materialize the celestial fire . (red skull with stones work)

 Assumptions

There is a common numitor that somehow reads all mystical disciplines, religions with alchemy, with the Kabbala, with various oriental philosophies, with magic, with shamanism, etc.

This common number is the resolution of the problem of death.

• Christians solve the problem of death with the belief in life beyond, in the heavenly paradise, another space belonging to another time which is outside of the ephemeral earthly life.
• Alchemists solve the problem of death with transmutation to arrive at the philosopher’s stone and the elixir of eternal life.
• Jewish mysticism resolves the problem of death by accepting the purpose of the material and the infinite of thought, of an energy that is recycled and never lost.
